Elland can be reached by road or a walk (or cycle) long the canal in the opposite direction to Brighouse. Although smaller than Brighouse it is much older and boasts an 800 year old church. It also has good shops & restaurants.
Brighouse can be reached either by road or a good gentle stroll (or cycle) along the Calder and Hebble Canal. The town has a busy market on Wednesday and Saturday but also has a plethora of small shops as well as two large supermarkets.
A little further away is Halifax with its unique Piece Hall and Eureka, the children’s museum. A short distance from Halifax is Shibden Hall a 14th century part black & white house, home in the 19th century to the diarist Anne Lister.
Being close to the M62 motorway there is also easy access to Leeds, Manchester and Liverpool.
